spaceape is an audiovisual project that generates experiments in perception. spaceape is interested in what changes habitual patterns of perception in every day reality. By producing photography, digital video and sound, spaceape highlights the space in between the way things are and what we think they are. For spaceape, this is the space of affective perception.

spaceape produces photography and cover artwork for books, journals and magazines.
spaceape produces digital video and sound for multimedia events.
spaceape in collaboration with DJ kode 9 and Hyperdub produces tracks/EPs and promos for the record label Hyperdub

spaceape is an audio/visual project by Stephen Samuel Gordon.

I developed spaceape after graduating at Goldsmiths’College, London (2000). Since then, I have worked on a number of multimedia projects in the UK and across Europe. I have produced audiovisual work for the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit, AfroBionics, TMG Hypermedia, Hyperdub.com and Legends of the Dark Black. My audio/visual work has been screened at the ICA, Brixton Academy, 291 Gallery, Mass (Brixton), The Tablet Gallery, Thealit Laboratorium (Germany), Istituto Universitario Orientale (Italy). My photography has been commissioned by Duke University Press, Pluto Press, Liguori Press, Mute Magazine and Thealit Frauen.Kultur.Labor.

Currently, spaceApe is producing visual material for the book launch of Abstract Sex. Philosophy, Biotechnology and the Mutations of Desire by Luciana Parisi (Continuum Press. 2004) and cover artwork for Network Culture. Politics For The Information Age by Tiziana Terranova (Pluto Press. 2004).

spaceape (aka Daddy G) is also collaborating with DJ Kode 9 and the record label Hyperdub on a project that has just seen its first release, ‘Sign of the Dub/Stalker’ (2004).
